High Quality Video Streaming in Low Bandwidth

High Quality Video Streaming In Low Bandwidth

Be it “how to make banana pudding?” or “basic concepts in embedded systems” or “secrets for weight reduction”, today the majority of onliners prefer to watch videos to access info rather than reading articles or searching for e-books. You Tube has videos for almost everything on planet earth. The three criteria to be taken into account while talking about ‘informative videos’ are:

  • Richness of the information it gives
  • Crystal clear definition of the video
  • Time taken for streaming/buffering

In most video streaming instances, including live streaming, buffering issues crop up due to bandwidth inadequacy, Internet outage or encoder’s incapacity. White there are remedies to live streaming buffering issues, HD playback is something that has always remained an insurmountable challenge for broadcasters.

In the technical point of view we got to consider the second two points above. HD has almost become like another name for crystal clear and high quality videos, since the latter turned out to be the most successful format. It was a challenging yet interesting task for us to create a highly efficient HD Player that plays FLV videos.

We were extremely happy when our HD FLV player made it to the top (is today considered as one of the best HD players), but the next challenge was to provide the same quality in lesser streaming speed for low bandwidth users. Not just for us, today for all the leading video sharing giants such as YouTube, Kaltura etc. We’ve been searching for a perfect video on demand solution that renders high quality video streaming in low bandwidth.

Videos built in the H.264 codec is referred to HD videos. Today most of the sites and video streaming platform such as YouTube are providing multiple versions i.e. HD and other older formats, of the same video (320p, 480p). Users of low bandwidth can access the low quality versions in case they require faster streaming.

The grass root idea is to discover a totally new format in which the same H.264 videos can be converted into lower size memory, thus uploading and streaming could be done faster even in low bandwidth. And also the latest trend of VOD providers specific versions according to the bandwidth detected of the respective PC can be sustained. This might sound almost like the FFMPEG’s idea which helps to convert any format video into FLV format for uploading in the web. But this is just a vague idea which needs a lot of research and months of experimentation to make out a discovery of equalizing high quality videos with less streaming duration. This is so tough as an invention. It is just a tough thing which doesn’t mean it is impossible. Hope Contus Support’s R&D is able to tell the world some good news soon.
