Madrasters – Interactive learning on future design technologies

CONTUS never stops learning and it is evident from the fact that our technical and design heads keep themselves involved in techy workshops and conferences to share ideas and stay updated on evolving technologies that would help them innovate and keep Contus in par with the frontrunners.

One such innovative workshop was planned on 29th of June at IIT Research Park, Tharamani, Chennai. The event was conducted by an Adobe authorized group of innovative Photoshop experts, professionals and enthusiasts in Chennai who organize workshops on various evolving trends in designing. This online-offline community is driven by passionate bunch of designers, photographers, art lovers and Photoshop users.

Contus’ top creative brains Bala Murugan (Creative Head), Vimalraj, Benny, Vinod and Ram took part in the workshop which had two important topics on discussion, ‘Experimental Typography’ and UX and UI Design – ‘Beyond Mobile’.

Experimental Typography app designProb Gyan and Artist Six were keynote speakers for ‘Experimental Typography’ workshop which dealt about creating own font styles and set to express (communicate) the purpose and nature of the context which is being tried to explain through the ‘content’. Participants of this workshop were educated about the basics of typography, its history, evolution, font families and their classifications.

Our Mobile app designers on brainstroming sessionOur designers who took part in this workshop were put to test by demanding to create their own font styles with commonly used stationeries like pencils, clips and others materials like matchsticks and buds. Over this task, a brainstorming session was conducted which paved way for the flow of better ideas and better understanding of typography.

‘Beyond Mobile’, which had app UX and UI design as its baseline of discussion was taken care by Keshav Soni and Ramakrishna. As the name suggests, this workshop was completely on the challenges with the recent trends of app UI designs, basically for wearable devices like Google glass, smart-watches, and mobile pairing gears. Post the lecture, an interactive session broke out which had designers speaking about applying the emerging technologies into future devices to solve real-world problems.

On the whole, the day was yet another learning curve from which tech brains of Contus added feather to their cap with loads of valuable inputs.

Alex Sam is a mobility, IoT & chat app specialist and I would like to spend most of my time in reading and analyzing the latest happenings in the technology and how they fit into our daily lives. I always endeavor to identify more ideas and concepts, and develop user-friendly apps through leveraging technology.
