Magento Developers Meet – A Brainstorming Session for Magento Maniacs

Post the success of the inaugural CTG event, the techies of Contus organized a meet titled ‘Magento Magicians’, which involved all the Magento development brains. This meeting was organized as a part of CTG activities on the 11th of July, 2014.

The developers meet happened to be a pure discussion, idea sharing and brainstorming session in which programmers had an open talk on the various issues and technical difficulties faced while developing and customizing extensions.

More number of queries as well as suggestions came from developers who are deployed to take care of the customer support (Ticketing) process as they are the ones who frequently face customer queries of various kinds like server issues, bugs, third party extension compatibility etc. The doubts escalated by them were put into a discussion and a brainstorming session that followed churned out answers for it.

Bala G, who developed First Data ICICI payment extension, gave his valuable inputs on how to create a payment extension and do’s and don’ts which have to be followed while developing it. Post his lesson, Selvakumar, a certified senior Magento developer, shared his inputs on how to take up the certification course and how will it help in understanding of the nuances of Magento development, better.

The discussion which took the center stage was of the security precautions which have to be focused while shaping up an extension of any type. The meet was taken to the next level when an intensive discussion took off about the future of Magento development.

In this phase of the meeting, developers discussed on the new feature updates, enhancements and technicalities of the lately released Magento 1.9 community edition and how can it be implemented in creating refined extensions for solving various ecommerce business needs.

Moreover, the future release of Magento community edition, v2.0, was discussed extensively. Developers exchanged ideas on what to expect from this future update and how is it going to play a crucial role in the approach towards Magento development.
